After graduating from McNeese State University in 1989, Brian was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. Upon completion of officer basic training, Brian spent the greater part of the 1990s serving in US and NATO units in Greece, Turkey and Germany. In 2000 after nearly 8 years in Europe, Brian returned to the US where he served as an instructor at the US Army’s Combined Logistics Officer Advance Course. In 2004, Brian was selected to attend the US Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He was also selected to become a Strategic Intelligence Officer and attended graduate school where he obtained a Master’s of Science in Strategic Intelligence Studies. In 2006, Brian deployed to Afghanistan in support of US and NATO operations. Upon returning from Afghanistan in 2007, Brian returned to overseas duty at NATO Headquarters in Mons, Belgium. In 2011, Brian retired from active service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He and his wife Kitty live in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where he is the Deputy Director for Security and Safety for a defense services company. Brian and his wife Kitty are involved with several animal welfare and wildlife conservation initiatives and programs. Brian is a member of the East African Wildlife Society, the African Wildlife Foundation and the Born Free Foundation. He and Kitty wife travel frequently throughout Africa volunteering on conservation projects and spending time with the people and wildlife. In 2015, he successfully led a team that summited Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain, to raise funds for Save the Elephants, a UK-registered non-profit based in Kenya. Brian has also volunteered his time with Action for Cheetahs in Kenya and other organizations striving to protect some of Africa’s most iconic species. Last year, Brian and Kitty visited the AFRICAT Foundation and the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia and spent a week in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia.
